CERAMICS

  • Lowri davies

Lowri’s work deals with aspects of family life and Welsh tradition. Much of her work is decorative, handbuilt, domestic-ware which combines contemporary design with iconic imagery of Wales. Significantly, Lowri often exhibits her work on a plain, wooden dresser, a piece of furniture that is traditionally of central importance to Welsh homes. The concept of decorating the home with functional ceramic ware is one which Lowri has been brought up with and is evocative of the lifestyle from which Lowri draws her inspiration.

Lowri graduated from Cardiff School of Art in 2001 and won the Young Artist Scholarship at the National Eisteddfod in the same year.

Recent bone china production techniques are influenced from her period of study on the MA Ceramic Design course and placement at Wedgwood Design Studio in Staffordshire, UK.
