Ian Stallard produces fine porcelain
ceramics in conjunction with his business partner Patrik Fredrikson. Their work fuses the simple with the opulent, the non-conforming
with the traditional, to create a fresh perception to ceramics.
Cable and Dragon Vases
‘Cable'
and ‘Dragon', featured here, are fine porcelain
vessels decorated with three-dimensional additions that have
connotations with both the modern world and the ancient past. These are anchored on simple upright shapes with narrow necks. Ian's
work is fragile and beautiful and stands alone as sculpture.
Six Chinese dragon-heads
guard the otherwise plain form of the Dragon vase and it is
this juxtaposition which makes it so unique. East meets West
as the detailed heads stand out in stark contrast to the simple
and contemporary body of the vessel.
With Cable, Ian was
inspired by the beauty of a bundle of electric cables seen
running up the walls of a building being constructed. Porcelain
cast cables run up the elegant body of this piece, seemingly
held by cable clamps.
Bolt Vase
With delicate white porcelain, exaggerated seams and sterling silver fastenings BOLT vase gives the
industrial process a beauty in its own right. It is not about underlining and accepting flaws, but to celebrate the
industrial aesthetic.
Ming Vase
Ian continues to explore and comment on our classic view on ceramic. The MING collection
marries high and low culture blending preciousness and mass consumerism. Rather than coating the piece in
the traditional way with glaze, each piece is uniquely encased in industrial plastics bring the surface
decoration into the third dimension.The Ming collection was chosen for the French National Art Collection.

Ian produces ranges
of tableware, lighting, decorative and functional bowls alongside
his more sculptural works like Cable and Dragon.
Ian Stallard studied
Ceramic Design at Central Saint Martins College of Art and
Design and his work has been shown in London and New York.
